Dylan goes pure stock racing

Dylan went back to the roots of racing this past weekend and tried his hand at running a pure stock racecar. He ran a 1974 Monte Carlo in the V8 Bomber class. The car belongs to Preston Irons. He asked Dylan to come wheel it a few times. That is exactly what Dylan did this past Saturday night at his home track, Auburndale Speedway. With the weather hot and extremely humid, the track was a bit slick. Dylan pulled his pill to start in the second Heat race. He took the green starting in 4th position. After trying the outside a couple times and not quite having enough to pull it off he had to settle for finishing in 4th.

The Feature put Dylan starting 9th. With 12 cars starting nose to tail, side by side they took the green. By lap 5, Dylan in his #6 Black Monte pulled to the outside of #25. A half lap later it was Dylan’s position. He then went to the outside of #57 and was working him hard. Unfortunately the caution flag dropped for a car that spun in turn 4. On the restart, Dylan was in 7th. He spent time trying different lines, entry earlier, exit later, until he found his groove. When the second caution flew for a car spinning in turn 4, Dylan with his keen eye was able to miss by going high and then low. Two laps later the checker fell with Dylan in 7th. He got out of Preston’s car and said, “Man, now that was fun”. He is looking forward to getting behind the wheel again this weekend. He will be racing this race for his sister, Ciara. She will be leaving the following day for college.
